Tiny Handler, Big Dreams: 3-Year-Old Caitlyn Makes Crufts History with Her Schnauzer Sidekick
In one of the most adorable milestones in dog show history, 3-year-old Caitlyn Mellor and her 8-year-old Miniature Schnauzer, Zeeva, have qualified for the legendary Crufts dog show — the world’s largest dog show — scheduled for March 2026!
Caitlyn, from Groesffordd, Wales, is set to become one of the youngest-ever Crufts competitors after an impressive showing at the Three Counties Championship. Born into a dog-loving family, Caitlyn attended her first show at just 8 weeks old — and her very first word was “doggy.”
Her mother, Lydia Mellor of Lyzahro Schnauzers, says Caitlyn quickly took to showing dogs herself and now insists on competing solo — often alongside adults many decades older. Together with Zeeva (who usually sleeps in Caitlyn’s bed), the two train lightly and joyfully in their local grassy field, which Caitlyn fondly calls their “doggy clap” spot, inspired by the applause they receive in the ring.
Despite her young age, Caitlyn brings confidence and excitement to every show. Supported by kind-hearted adult handlers, she’s winning hearts more than trophies — though her sights are now set on Crufts.
“She’s not nervous at all. She just loves being there,” says her mom. “Winning or not, Caitlyn’s happiest running around with her dog.”
Stay tuned, because this pint-sized pair is proving that joy, dedication, and a wagging tail can go a long way — even to Crufts.

🐾 Roselle: The Heroic Guide Dog Who Led Her Owner to Safety on 9/11
When the World Trade Center was struck on September 11, 2001, a brave guide dog named Roselle proved just how extraordinary the bond between a human and a dog can be.
Roselle, a yellow Labrador Retriever, was guiding her blind owner, Michael Hingson, when the first plane hit Tower One. They were on the 78th floor. Amidst the chaos, smoke, and confusion, Roselle remained calm and focused — a true professional. She led Michael down nearly 1,500 steps, pausing occasionally to let others pass and to comfort those panicking in the stairwell. It took them almost an hour to reach safety.
Even as the building began to collapse behind them, Roselle never flinched. She continued to guide Michael through the streets, away from the dust cloud and debris, saving not only his life — but also comforting and helping others around her.
Roselle’s courage earned her widespread recognition, including the American Kennel Club’s Hero Dog Award. She reminded the world that dogs are not just companions — they are capable of acts of true heroism in our darkest moments.
